Why Do You Need an EU Authorised Representative?
If your business is established outside the European Union but you sell or place products on the EU market, you are legally required to appoint an EU Authorised Representative (AR) under several EU regulations, including:
GPSR (Regulation EU 2023/988) – General Product Safety Regulation, applicable to non-food consumer products
CE marking directives – Including directives covering electronics, toys, machinery, and other product categories
EU MDR/IVDR – Medical Device Regulation and In Vitro Diagnostic Regulation
Under GPSR (Article 16), the EU Responsible Person's name, postal address, and email address must appear on the product, packaging, or an accompanying document. An Authorised Representative's address can legally fulfil this requirement in place of the manufacturer's address on packaging.
Why this matters:
Without an EU AR, your products may be blocked at customs, removed from online marketplaces, or subject to fines and enforcement action.
Market surveillance authorities use the AR as their primary contact point for your products.
Steps to Appoint an EU Authorised Representative
Option 1: Use Your Own or a Third-Party AR Address
If you already have an EU Authorised Representative, you can enter their details directly:
Click Add Your Rep Address
Fill in the AR's logo, company name, full address, and country
Ensure the selected country is an EU member state
Option 2: Appoint Euverify as Your EU AR
Euverify's EU Authorised Representative service is included in all plans (Starter, Growth, Scale, and Pro). Euverify's EU AR address is based in Cork, Ireland, and is set up within 24 hours of signing the agreement.
It is not mandatory to use Euverify's address — you may use your own company's EU address or a third-party AR service instead.
To appoint Euverify as your EU AR:
Click + Appoint Euverify under the Authorised Rep in the EU section
A card will appear confirming Euverify's EU AR covers GPSR, Cosmetics, and Medical products, based in Ireland. Click Appoint
You'll be taken to the Review & Confirm Agreement page, which shows:
Coverage Region — European Union (Ireland), included in your plan
Manufacturer Address — pre-filled from your Manufacturer Details. Click the edit icon if you need to update it
Agreement Signatory — select the signatory type and enter their Name and Designation. The agreement will be sent to this person for a digital signature
Review the details and click Send Agreement for Signature
The signatory will receive an email with the formal agreement to review and digitally sign. The service is activated once the agreement is signed.
Important Notes
Euverify does not accept certain high-risk business categories. Refer to the restricted categories list for details.
The manufacturer remains fully responsible for product compliance. Euverify, as AR, does not verify technical files or test reports.
If you require a UK Authorised Representative as well, this is available as an add-on (£200/year) on Starter and Growth plans, or is included as standard on Scale and Pro plans.
