Who this is for: Businesses outside the EU or UK that collect or process personal data of individuals in these regions.
Goal: Understand what a GDPR Representative is, why your company needs one, and how Euverify provides this service seamlessly across the EU and UK.
1️⃣ What Is a GDPR Representative?
Under Article 27 of the GDPR (EU) and the UK GDPR, companies outside these regions must appoint a local representative if they process personal data of people in the EU or UK.
This representative acts as your official point of contact for:
Supervisory authorities (such as the ICO in the UK or Data Protection Authorities in EU countries)
Individuals (data subjects) who have questions or requests about how their data is used
Simply put: your GDPR Representative is your local face for data protection in Europe and the UK.
2️⃣ When You Need a GDPR Representative
You must appoint a GDPR Representative if your company:
Offers goods or services to individuals in the EU or UK, even if you have no office there, or
Monitors the behavior of individuals in these regions (for example, through analytics, cookies, or targeted advertising).
Example:
A U.S. or Indian e-commerce company selling to EU customers or using EU-based analytics must have an EU Representative.
If it also sells to the UK, it must appoint a UK Representative as well.
3️⃣ How Euverify Acts as Your GDPR Representative
When you sign up for the Euverify GDPR module, you officially appoint Euverify Ltd as your GDPR Representative through a digitally signed agreement.
Depending on your plan, you can choose:
EU Representative,
UK Representative, or
Both EU + UK Representatives.
Once appointed, Euverify will:
✅ Represent your company before EU and UK supervisory authorities
✅ Receive and manage data subject requests (DSARs) via a secure online portal
✅ Forward regulatory communications to your designated contact
✅ Maintain and store compliance records (your ROPA, signed agreements, and DSAR logs)
✅ Provide local addresses in both regions for official correspondence
